New 33-foot weekender carries Hunt nameplate

C. Raymond Hunt Associates, a designer of hulls based in Boston, MA, is set to begin selling Hunt 33 Express, its first boat bearing the Hunt brand. The medium-sized, light-weight, single-engine day boat and weekender is expected to be launched at the Newport Boat Show, which will be held on Sept. 17 to 20, 1998. Hunt Hulls Inc. was formed in the spring of 1998 to serve as the C. Raymond Hunt unit that will sell and market Hunt boats. CCI Composites in South Dartmouth, MA, is manufacturing the boat, which bears a traditional look with its straight sheer and cambered trunk cabin.

Bombardier starts shipping new Sea-Doos

Bombardier Motor Corp of Melbourne, FL, has finally shipped the Sea-Doo RX DI on May 15 to dealers after resolving quality problems with the personal watercraft acclaimed by Watercraft World magazine as the "benchmark for the new millennium." Bombardier expects to ship about 3,500 model-year 2000 units. Production of the GTX DI model, however, has been postponed. The watercraft's direct-injection engine uses the Orbital technology, a technology that is said to lessen emissions by 70% while increasing fuel economy by 30%.
