Census Bureau taps EDS to handle 15.5 million calls in 5 months

Teleservice firm EDS of Herndon, VA, has been awarded a $100-million contract to handle 11 million inbound calls and 4.5 million outbound calls for a five-month period for the 2000 census. Under the deal, the call centers would have to be equipped to field questions and make calls in six languages including English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Tagalog and Korean. EDS said that it will use 30 call centers and employ 6,000 agents for the contract.

Dynastar infomercial aims to build brand, sport

Ski and equipment manufacturer Dynastar Inc of Burlington, VT, will launched the first infomercial campaign for its Dynastar Skis, Look bindings and Lange boots. The infomercial will feature Olympic Gold medalist Picabo Street, Tomy Moe and Alberto Tomba, with skiing event TV commentator Bob Beattie as host. It will air throughout the US and Canada.
