Amazon.com in European entry
Article Abstract:
Amazon.com, an online bookseller, recently made its entry in the British and German markets with its purchase of an online store in the UK and the ABC Buecherdienst subsidiary of Telebook, a Florida-based company. The firm acquired Bookpages, one of the largest online bookstores in the UK and provides access to all of the 1.2 million British books. Meanwhile the German acquistion is ABC Buecherdienst, located in Regensburg and markets 400,000 German language titles online. The acquisitions will reportedly give Amazon.com a new database having 800,000 German book titles on it. This will eventually make the online firm the largest database in the world.
