Creating impressions through different media is the principle behind integrated marketing. Boat dealers should take note that it takes multiple exposures of images and information about their products to reach potential buyers. Outdoor advertising is a key element of the multi-impression strategy at a fixed cost. Some successful marine dealers are losing prospects due to their failure to take advantage of outdoor advertising on their property. Meanwhile, dealerships must first conduct customer profiling and traffic flow studies before implementing this type of marketing. The tools will help gauge traffic volume and determine the characteristics of the persons most likely to buy the products.

General Mills is putting the image of Denny Brauer in its Wheaties cereal box. Brauer earned the honor after he became the Land O'Lakes Angler-of-the-Year point champion at Operation Bass' Forrest Wood Open in Hartford, CT. According to Operation Bass's general manager, Brian Sayner, Brauer's image will start appearing in October 1998. Brauer's image will appear on the front of the Wheaties box, while his biographical profile will run on a side panel. Brauer of Camden, MO, has been joining fishing competition since 1980. He is the third pro angler to win more than $1 million in cash prize.
