The A-Z of getting ahead
Article Abstract:
Those seeking employment in the UK construction industry should begin by putting together a clear, precise application. It may be worthwhile drawing attention to key skills in a separate section on your CV. There is currently strong demand for the best applicants, so it may be possible to negotiate with a potential employer. Some potential employers may require applicants to give a talk or make a presentation, so care should be taken to find out exactly what is required. It is vital to have a clear idea of what job you actually want.

Merger mania
Article Abstract:
Maintaining information services for up to 800 users was the responsibility of Martin Brunning when three UK contracters merged to form the UK-branch of Dutch construction firm HBG Construction in December 1997. Brunning had to identify the different types of software and hardware in use in the three different firms, ensuring all staff could maintain use of their systems throughout the move to a central office. Keeping everyone informed of the changes surrounding the move ensured the merger went smoothly.
