Out of site
Article Abstract:
The UK construction industry may have to respond to the growing shortage of skilled workers by taking more of the construction process off site and using prefabricated and standardized building components more extensively. Prefabrication has a poor image in the UK, being associated with buildings which do not last very long and lack attractive architectural features. However, it is becoming more widely recognized that prefabrication could offer speed, efficiency and predictability.

Cardiff shows satisfaction sells
Article Abstract:
UK housebuilders should place strong emphasis on customer satisfaction if levels of recommendations from satisfied purchasers are to rise, according to a survey of new homebuyers undertaken for Cardiff Bay Development Corp. This survey revealed a strong link between service and the willingness of homebuyers to recommend a housebuilder to their friends and family. The NHBC has used the survey to test its own customer care code of practice, which will be launched later in 1999.
