Percy Thomas blames PFI for debts
Article Abstract:
Architectural firm Percy Thomas Partnership believes that it has been negatively affected by the UK government's private finance initiative (PFI). It has experienced delays to five PFI hospital schemes, and now has debts of more than 2.5 million pounds sterling. It has applied for a company voluntary arrangement, and this may allow it to continue to trade, with creditors receiving 15% of what they are owed. It believes that it has lost 100,000 pounds sterling a month since Mar 1997 as a result of the failure of its clients to sign PFI contracts.

Architect may sue council over bridge
Article Abstract:
Westminster City Council may be sued for breach of copyright by architectural firm Lifschutz Davidson. The firm disputes the view that the council owns the copyright for the design for Hungerford Bridge over the River Thames in London, England. The council now plans to use a new team of consultants, and the project will be let as a form of design and build contract. An architect will act as the client's consultant, with responsibility for the work of the contractor on the design submitted by Lifschutz Davidson.
