Piers just wants to have fun
Article Abstract:
British architect Piers Gough, long regarded as an eccentric, is finally being recognized by the British cultural establishment. Gough, a founding partner of London-based CZWG, has designed only two public buildings, one of them being a small public toilet in west London. Among other projects in which he has been involved are up-market loft conversions, apartment blocks and private housing developments. Gough believes that architecture should be enjoyable and says that his main ambition is to design an important cultural building, such as a modern art gallery.

How do you measure up?
Article Abstract:
The UK government is planning to introduce benchmark measurements to help construction firms assess performance in several key areas. The measurements will be collated and converted into a league table by the Department for the Environment, Trade and the Regions, which will help prospective clients choose contractors for projects. The measurements will also help firms make improvements where weaknesses have been highlighted. Experts claim the system could be misused by contractors who fail to provide adequate or accurate information.
