Preventive medecine
Article Abstract:
Builders need to take care when choosing types of flooring and should identify potential hazards. Failure to do so could lead to costly litigation. In Holland Hannen and Cubitts versus WHTSO the building contractors were found to have failed in their contract to provide a suitable hospital floor. The builders used reinforced concrete slabs laid on steel beams topped with screed. The slabs sagged causing bumps in the floor preventing the use of trolleys and the erection of partitions.
