Publishing co-op movement growing
Article Abstract:
Acxiom/Direct Media of Greenwich, CT, is in the midst of setting up a publishing cooperative because it was inspired by the effectiveness of cooperative catalog databases. The cooperative will be developing new database product which will battle products created by Experian Direct Tech and Abacus Direct in the market, indicated Acxiom's SmartBase product leader John Carter. DirecTech vice president of information services Chris Lynde noted that cooperative database industry players ought to have the leeway to work in as many environments as they can operate. Lynde stressed that performance is the key to determining survival.
