Reader's Digest taps Mal Dunn as new list manager

Readers' Digest Assn Inc has selected Mal Dunn Assoc as the new list manager for its customer databases. The decision came after the former list manager, Direct Media Inc, showed no interest in managing the 6 million-name Reader's Digest file. Mal Dunn Pres Stephen Dunn said that they specialize in handling large publishing accounts and in keeping them for a long time. Diane Silverman, director of list sales at Reader's Digest, said that increasing circulation has been a big help in boosting its customer file after years of declining circulation.

Interactive division gives Lake Group's clients e-mail

The Lake Group, Rye, NY-based mailing list management and services company, has created a new Internet division to provide the same services, but this time using e-mail lists. L@ke Interactive will specialize on back-end services, such as mail database management, real-time reporting, list deployment and campaign tracking. Ryan Lake, head of the new division, said L@ke Interactive will be much more involved in assisting companies in conducting e-mail marketing campaigns and building e-mail lists.

List firms rethink operations in Net age
Article Abstract:
Issues that are forcing list companies to rethink the way they conduct business were discussed at List Vision '99 in New York. Speakers were in agreement that the industry should deal with inefficiencies and the potential of the Internet. Some speakers bemoaned the lack of good e-mail lists as one reason why list companies were having difficulties combining their online and offline activities.
