Reader's Digest upgrades call centers
Article Abstract:
Reader's Digest of Pleasantville, NY, enhances its customer service by upgrading systems, cutting down in half the training time for customer service representatives and reducing by 15% the length of customer service calls. The 350 representatives who worked out of six different sites previously used PCs that linked to the mainframe at the firm's headquarters. The old system forced the reps to memorize list of codes to perform transactions or flip through a hefty manual. Andersen Consulting and its teams created the new system that would be used by Reader's Digest to capture consumer data. The system has been operating since September 1998 and the company intends to add new functions to it.
