Report questions TiVo's information gathering
Article Abstract:
The Privacy Foundation and the University of Denver Privacy Center claim the TiVo personal TV recorder could track personal consumer information, based on the findings of their four-month investigation. Both organizations say TiVo can gather enough data to track individual users' home viewing habits even if its manufacturer claims it cannot do so. Moreover, they say the company's privacy policy disclosure on its Web site is more explicit than the one contained in the printed material included with the device.
