Snyder Communications of Bethesda, MD, has acquired Response Marketing Group of Richmond, VA, in a stock deal valued at $52 million. Response Marketing offers strategic marketing and analytical services as well as develop integrated interactive and marketing solutions for the automotive, financial, technology and healthcare industries. Among the clients of Response Marketing are Intel Corp., MIcrosoft Corp., Bank One and Bank of America. Snyder, which recently acquired MKM Marketing GmBh of Germany, a pharmaceutical sales and marketing company, maintains offices throughout the US, the United Kingdom and Europe, including France, Germany, Ireland, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Office Depot Inc. made known its planned acquisition of Viking Office Products Inc. under a stock deal worth $3 billion. Viking will be led by Office Depot CEO and chairman David Fuente and preserve its Torrance, CA, headquarters as it becomes a 100%-owned subsidiary of Office Depot, as well as preserve the Viking brand. Lands' End looks to sell Willis & Geiger Catalog

Lands' End, a Dodgeville, WI-based company, has put its specialty catalog business, Willis & Geiger, up for sale. Lands' End President and CEO Michael J. Smith explained his company decided to sell the business after the latter failed to meet the the firm's expectations. Lands' End said the 16 employees that work for the specialty catalog will be offered jobs within its organization if they will not get job offers from the future owner of the business or if they decide not to work for the new owner.
