Spain's Terra Mobile to launch Web portal

Telefonica Moviles and Terra Networks have formed Terra Mobile, which will operate Telefonica Group's global mobile Internet portal. Telefonica Moviles is the mobile phone subsidiary of Telefonica while Terra Networks is its Internet service provider. Terra Mobile will operate in Spain and Latin America, where the Telefonica Group has dominant market positions. The company estimates that as many as 234 million people would be using wireless Internet services in the regions where it plans to do business.

Red-stars sees booming Eastern Europe

Austrian Internet startup company Red-stars.com is focusing on areas in Eastern Europe neglected by US investors. The company already has offices in Moscow, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. It also has received capital infusion from Siemens in exchange for a 25% stake in the company. Red-stars already has invested in Czech online firm Samba Digital Media and owns 30% of Puls Biznesu Net, another online firm started by Poland's largest business newspaper.
