Catalog marketers need to do both testing and primary marketing research to be always in touch with their customers. Testing allows marketers to interact in a specific but limited way with customers. Primary marketing research gives marketers an idea why customers think and behave the way they do. Successful marketers are those who are pro-active in their customer relations and who make it a priority to always listen to their customers.
