Super Coups partners with CoolSavings

Super Coups and IL-based CoolSavings Inc recently launched a cobranded site that will test the effectiveness of distributing coupons online. The site, which allows registered users of CoolSavings in the Boston area to download or print coupons from Super Coups' local merchants and CoolSavings' national coupon provider base, will also try to study the best way of distributing coupons online. Super Coups and CoolSavings said they will test the project for two months before launching it out nationally.

Wine direct marketers and wholesalers are locked in heated dispute over the 21st Amendment Act, or HR 2031, which aims to give states authority to file injunctions in federal courts against direct marketers who violate state laws when they transport alcoholic beverages to consumers. Wholesalers are accusing direct sellers of wine of providing minors easy access to alcoholic beverages and letting producers byspass state laws banning such sales.

MSGI cites labor dispute in year-end loss

Marketing Services Group Inc (MSGI), based in New York, NY, attributed a loss of $20.18 million for fiscal year ending Jun 1999 to an attempt to unionize its telemarketing operations. The $20.18 million marks the fourth consecutive year of losses for the company. The direct marketing operations of MSGI, with the exception of its telemarketing division, posted internal growth 'in excess of 10%,' according to Chairman/CEO Jeremy Barbera.
