Article Abstract:

'Construct IT - Bridging the Gap' is a new report produced by Andersen Consulting on behalf of British Telecom and the DoE. The report gives advice on how to improve the use of information technology within the construction sector. The government suggests the development of an organisation which would implement recommendations, including representatives from the academia, the client base and industry itself. An overview of the report is given.

Article Abstract:

Activists have been occupying the site on the banks of the Thames in Wandsworth that is designated for development by owner Guinness. The developer wants to build a supermarket, a new access road and some housing, but the council wants business and employment opportunities and better use of the river frontage. Protesters want affordable housing and green public space. Guinness is awaiting the verdict of a public inquiry into the scheme.

The new River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames, England, will be completed in June 1996. The modernist museum has been designed by architect David Chipperfield Architects and daringly uses non-traditional materials, including steel, glass and exposed concrete. Details of the project are presented.
