Article Abstract:
The refurbishment of the 1980s building belonging to investment bank SBC Warburg Dillon Read in London, England, was planned in order to extend the dealing floor and to house additional information technology equipment. Lead Designers were Ove Arup & Partners whilst the construction work was carried out by Miletrian. The whole project had to proceed whilst the building was still occupied by bank staff. Some 600 construction workers were used on the project, they worked at weekends and at night on particularly noisy tasks. The most difficult problem was keeping a constant power supply to the bank.
