Troubled times at Conseco Inc
Article Abstract:
Two top executives of Conseco Inc have resigned due to the poor performance of Green Tree Financial Corp, a subsidiary which was acquired in 1998. Conseco had earlier announced its intention to sell Green Tree, a provider of retail home equity mortgages, home improvement mortgages and consumer and floorplan loans of manufactured homes. Green Tree was acquired for $6 billion in stock but as of Dec 31, 1999, its shareholder equity was only about $2.2 billion.

Honda entering PWC market
Article Abstract:
American Honda Motor plans to enter the personal watercraft (PWC) market with its own line of four-stroke models. Company VP Ray Blank says Honda would be a strong advocate of the proper use of PWCs but concedes that the market has gone through a lot of ups and downs. All of its four-stroke models comply with emission standards set for 2006, which would use clean- running four-stroke technology. Honda plans to unveil the first model by the fall of 2001.

Cash-strapped Datamarine remains confident; company officials say a new agreement will help them raise a badly needed $3.5 million

Datamarine International Inc.'s president and CEO, David Thompson, says his marine electronics manufacturing firm has a strong order backlog that will fuel a return to profitability with a cash infusion. It is the only manufacturer of 220 MHz land mobile radio equipment. In April the company reduced its workforce along with implementing other cost controls.
