US publisher ponders Argentina from Chile base
Article Abstract:
International Masters Publishers, a continuity publisher that specializes in wildlife, plans to expand operations in Latin Argentina by entering Argentina. The company has been using Chile as a Latin American test market for two years and is now considering Argentina after the Oct 24, 1999 presidential election. Michael Saray, the company's director of Latin markets, rates Chilean mailing lists as good, although they are not as accurate or cleas as those found in the US.

PSINet extends September buying spree to Brazil
Article Abstract:
PSINet is on a buying spree in Latin America, which the Internet service provider (ISP) expects will account for most of future Internet growth. The company acquired its sixth Brazilian ISP in late Sep 1999, adding to its growing network of ISPs in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Panama. While the number of Internet subscribers in the region is still low, the market is growing at a phenomenal rate. Growth is expected to go at a faster rate once deregulation sets in.
