PSINet extends September buying spree to Brazil

Article Abstract:

PSINet is on a buying spree in Latin America, which the Internet service provider (ISP) expects will account for most of future Internet growth. The company acquired its sixth Brazilian ISP in late Sep 1999, adding to its growing network of ISPs in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Panama. While the number of Internet subscribers in the region is still low, the market is growing at a phenomenal rate. Growth is expected to go at a faster rate once deregulation sets in.
