Wing command
Article Abstract:
US architect Jim O'Kon has designed a revolutionary type of aircraft hanger to fit around an aeroplane. This reduces the space needed by 60%, decreasing overall capital and running costs. The new hangers include environmental services to protect the aeroplane and workers. The most importantfeature of the new design is the doors which can be pulled up like venetian blinds. The first hanger will be completed by Sep 1993 for the Mississippi Air National Guard in Meridan. Critics claim that the extra space in the traditional hangers is useful for maintenance work.
