Tyee Media nabs Philips

Atlanta, GA-based Philips Consumer Eletronics, an electronics giant, selected Tyee Media, the direct television (DRTV) media buying unit of Portland, OR-based The Tyee Group, as its new infomercial media-buying agency. Tyee, which used to work for Philips for six years as a producer of infomercials, replaced Williams Direct, a Santa Monica, CA-based DRTV agency. The Philips media account brings prestige to Tyee Media, which counts Mirro/Wearever, Home Depot and Panasonic as its other clients.

Value America revamps infomercial to emphasize Web brand

Internet retailer Value America Inc of Charlottesville, VA, has revamped an infomercial to stress the company's brand more than a single product offering. The new infomercial is part of its strategy to distinguish its Web site while avoiding the clutter of Internet advertising in television and radio. Value America will run the advertisements in major national newspapers and will launch a program to distribute catalogs in FedEx packages.
