iQVC to Canada this month in first global expansion step
Article Abstract:
iQVC, the online shopping unit of QVC television retailing, expands into Canada with the launch of a new service in August 1998. The move marks the company's first step in its international expansion program that also targets UK and Germany. iQVC's Canadian service will offer a wide range of product categories, including home, electronics, office, fashion, jewelry, collectibles and toys. Consumers will be able to use iQVC's online fashion consultant, "My style advisor," where they can click on their eye, skin and hair color preference, to later receive a profile and purchase suggestions. The online shopping unit plans to venture into Europe before 1998 ends.
