Russell L. DeSouza: 1943-1997
Article Abstract:
The field of meteorology lost one of its well-respected members with the passing away of Russell L. DeSouza on Jun 6, 1997. DeSouza's interest in meteorology began when he experienced Hurricane Carol in 1954. He had stints with the National Hurricane Research Laboratory, National Weather Service Office, Florida Dept of Transportation and the Tallahassee Community College. However, his contributions to the meteorological profession were made as a professor of meteorology at Millersville University in Pennsylvania.

John E. Wallace: 1913-1997
Article Abstract:
One of the country's most respected meteorologists passed away on Apr 28, 1997, after serving the field of meteorology for many years. Weather Services Corp founder John E. Wallace began his career in atmospheric sciences with a stint at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Dept of Mathematics, where he worked as a research meteorologist specializing in extended forecasting for utility companies. He established Weather Services Corp, then known as Northeast Weather Services, in 1946.
