New reflections on the structure and evolution of the Makkovikian - Ketilidian Orogen in Labrador and southern Greenland
Article Abstract:
Marine seismic reflection profiles suggest that the Early Proterozoic Makkovikian - Ketilidian Orogen in the Labrador Sea region is a doubly vergent, asymmetric orogenic belt. The correlation of a southeast dipping reflector package with on-land shear zones documents the transition from ancient to juvenile. Contrasting crustal and subcrustal reflectivity patterns define a geometric focus below the orogenic belt and could provide subduction polarity information.

Seismic images and three-dimensional architecture of a Proterozoic shear zone in the Sudbury Structure (Superior Province, Canada)
Article Abstract:
A three-dimensional image of a wide zone of intense ductile to brittle deformation in the Paleo-Proterozoic Sudbury Igneous Complex in Superior Province, Canada, is presented. It is suggested that there are limits to the extent of deformation in the Sudbury Structure.
