One year of solitude: some pilgrim tales about Mexico's 1994-1995 crisis

Article Abstract:

A model is developed to determine the possible role of political scandals and problems in Mexico to the 1994 devaluation of the country's currency despite the existence of economic reforms. Regression estimates show the minor role of the scandals in creating the crisis. The problem snowballed into a crisis due to the absence of regulatory institutions like an independent central bank and a currency board.

Choosing rules to govern the commons: a model with evidence from Mexico

Article Abstract:

A model to investigate distributive rules seen in field data on 48 Mexican farmer-managed irrigation systems is presented. Rules with congruent cost-sharing and water-allocation arrangements bring higher levels of compliance.
