Making Hay pay
Article Abstract:
Hay-on-Wye, Wales, is the center for the old book trade, with the largest collection of rare and second-hand books in the world. Most of the residents are farmers, but Hay has become the capital of antiquarian books due largely to the efforts of Richard Booth, who opened a shop there in 1961. Booth chose Hay because of its many vacant buildings and its location between Bristol and Birmingham.
