And the band played on
Article Abstract:
The sinking of the 'Titanic' has become a modern myth, 80 years after her sinking during her maiden voyage with the loss of 1,500 people. It is suggested that this myth arose because she was the biggest and most luxurious ship ever built, and because she was supposed to be unsinkable. Although the passengers and crew knew they would die the story is always told in triumphant rather than tragic tones.
