Earthly power behind the divine glory
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the influence of religion, which is classed as the sacred as primarily a social matter, and spirituality, which is classed as the sacred as primarily an individual matter, throughout history. It is argued that as religion in the Western world is on the wane, spirituality, is on the rise. It is also contended that religion tends to flourish in regions or eras where it can either ally itself with more earthly powers, or, as in the case of Islam, as a force against certain earthly powers.

Article Abstract:
An analysis of the state of religious worship and religious attitudes in the United States. It is argued that the United States is irreligious, that for the vast majority of Americans, church-going is merely a socially-conformist gesture and if you asked most of them what they mean by the religious rhetoric they spout they would have no answer, and that what is actually on the rise in the US is superstition.
