Tooley, madly, deeply

Article Abstract:

Newcastle University, Newcastle, England, Professor of Education James Tooley feels the state has not lived up to expectations and made society more equal through education. Tooley undertook to look into the value of educational research in the UK. He found 50% of research papers, in four journals, were not of a sufficient standard. Tooley dislikes the idea of the state funding educational research. He suggests every child should have 2,000 pounds sterling to pay for their education, allowing parents free choice of establishment. Tooley was a member of the militant Labour Party.
