Raise the curtain on a genuinely political act
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the contention that in this time of war, the right to make significant gestures and voice opinions in the public arena must be reclaimed from celebrities are examined. It is argued that the war in Iraq must be the first war in which the determination of the people to make a gesture has seemed so strong but so irrelevant to the government and that part of the reason for this is due to our renunciation of the right to make a significant gesture, allowing sports stars and celebrities to make them for us.

Coloring history (their) our way
Article Abstract:
The anniversary of the end of World War II in the Pacific by the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan has exposed the hypocrisy and unwillingness of the US and Japan to examine history unflinchingly. Neither side is willing to look at the truth of the Japanese atrocities or the US release of the bombs.
