Tiny Rowland
Article Abstract:
Businessman Tiny Rowland was born in a detention camp in Simla, India, in 1917. His family settled in Hamburg, Germany, after the first world war. He joined the Hitler Youth, but was jailed for two months in 1939 for having links with critics of Hitler. He came to the UK as a refugee, and joined the British army as a medical orderly. He moved to Southern Rhodesia after the second world war, and in 1963 became head of London and Rhodesian Gold Mining Co. He gained a reputation for being ruthless in business, although he could also be charming.

The students participating in the program learn academic skills necessary for the workplace. The different projects involve teamwork as instructors and academic teachers guide the students. The instructors gather information from the local businesses about needed skills.

The atomic bomb's terrible efficiency, as demonstrated on Hiroshima, has brought war to a new level of savagery. With such destructive power available, peace is the only goal worth working for.
