Hardware is more flexible and compatible with other brands of software, use of local area networks reduces reliance on a main computer and computers from different utilities can share information.

Expert system controls flood of alarm messages

An intelligent alarms processor can prioritize alarm messages sent during power outages or overloads for operators who need to coordinate repair efforts. A description of the system is presented.
