Object of desire
Article Abstract:
A former colonel from the Royal Engineers of the British Army remembers the contribution of Lord Herbert Kitchener. Memories of Kitchener's role in inspiring people to join the British army is triggered by finding his right hand leather glove in the Royal Geographical Society collection. Kitchener's enthusiasm for action and his ability to inspire loyalty countered his record as a bad communicator. Kitchener's personality would have made him a good leader in the late 20th century.
