Three new trends lead to lower T&D costs, better service

Article Abstract:

Electric power transmission and distribution (T&D) services and costs have improved through three major changes in T&D planning. These are the use of satellite imagery for spatial analysis of customers, use of integrated resource methods and dependence on optimization strategies as planning tools.

Engineering pay trails inflation again; incentive programs grow

Article Abstract:

The median starting salaries of qualified engineers rose only 1.2%, while inflation rose 2.8%, from early 1991 to early 1992. The recession, pay policies of employers and an excess of qualified candidates contributed to the low salaries.
