The Transport Layer Standardization
Article Abstract:
The Transport Layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model controls the transfer of data between Open Systems and is the subject of several standards organizations. The European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA),Comite Consultative Internationale de Telegraphic et Telephonie CCITT), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have contributed to standardization work. Providing the Session Layer with data in an optimum matter is the primary objective of the Transport Layer. The relationship between functions and protocols is discussed along with protocol classes. Encoding principles and class relationships between relationships are illustrated. Service primitives are listed.

OSI Presentation Layer Activities
Article Abstract:
The Presentation Layer of the Open Systems Interconnection represents user information while it is between OSI systems. Progress has been made since the original requirements of the OSI Presentation and Application Layers were developed. The Presentation Layer receives requests for service from the Application Layer and requests services from the Session Layer. Connection, Context, Information Transfer, Dialogue Management, Synchronize, Interrupt, and Terminate facilities are provided by the Presentation Layer. Tables and diagrams illustrate Presentation Layer facilities.
