A knowledge-based expert system approach for the auditing process of some elements in the quality assurance system
Article Abstract:
Elements of the ISO 9000 auditing process such as 'contract review,''purchasing,' and 'handling, storage, packaging and delivery' have been undertaken using a knowledge-based expert system. The use of the system, called Expert System Approach in the Quality Assurance System, results in several advantages. Among these are the execution of the auditing process in the preparation phase can be done without the need for experts, at a lower cost and a shorter time period. The auditing process can be done automatically before the certification process has begun.

Reengineering the new product introduction process
Article Abstract:
Utilization of benchmarking and process reengineering works effectively in enhancing new product introduction (NPI) process used by high-technology companies. A case study shows that average time-to-market intervals were reduced to half less than two years after reengineering was undertaken. Sensitivity to customer needs and expectations was also enhanced upon modification of NPI process.
