Chemicals-sector jobs in the 21st century
Article Abstract:
The skills need for, and the types of positions available in, the chemical process industries have evolved with changes in technology, business practices and product demand. A number of significant trends have continued to transform the nature of chemical manufacturing such that it will be a considerably different business in the first decade of the 21st century. As a result, cross-disciplinary training, high levels of computer proficiency, simulation, on-the-spot analyses, problem solving, communications and other skills will be required of workers representing the entire organizational spectrum.

Activated carbon for the "hole" cleanup job
Article Abstract:
Activated carbon is the adsorbent typically used in filtration operations to clean up fluids and gases because of its abundance. Activated carbon suppliers are developing increasingly innovative active carbon products to satisfy the growing requirements of chemical process industry firms regarding production cost control and compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. High-end activated carbon producers are counting on specialized products to compete in applications where the others cannot.
