Adhesives: perfect drops seal human wounds
Article Abstract:
A new system developed by Loctite uses advanced adhesive technology and a smart pump to deliver precisely sized drops of adhesive to seal the edges of wounds in humans. Loctite's Indermil is an n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate monomer which can be kept for up to two years in a bottle but which will polymerise within 10 seconds when used on a patient. The adhesive biodegrades within 10 days on the surface or 127 days within the body. The pump has microprocessor control, so that drops can be delivered in one of three possible sizes.

Light stretches adhesives to new limits
Article Abstract:
Loctite has developed light activated acrylic and silicone adhesives. Some cure at 420nm, which means that light can penetrate polycarbonate and other polymers opaque or not very transmissive to shorter wavelengths. Applications include protecting electrical connections in cars and joining components of delicate medical appliances.
