Continuous improvement through the QS-9000 road map
Article Abstract:
QS-9000, introduced by the Automotive Industry Action Group in August 1994 with a revision in February 1995, aims at reducing wastage and variation and enhancing preventive aspects in the supply of equipment. It caters to all automotive suppliers who supply raw-materials to Ford Motor Co, General Motors Corp, Chrysler Corp, and others subscribing to QS-9000. It takes care of national and international requirements by using ISO 9001 as the quality standard and matching it with automotive necessities. Business improvement goals will be planned and executed on the basis of a QS-9000 roadmap.

An early SPICE experience: assessment model provides measurement and improvement opportunities for a software oriented organization
Article Abstract:
Software development firm CelsiusTech Australia was one of the first companies to adopt the new ISO standard ISO15504, known as Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination (SPICE). This standard aims to be a benchmark for assessing processes in software oriented companies, and offers a model for assessments. CelsiusTech found that using SPICE improved responsiveness in small and medium-sized proposals and gave better tailoring in all proposal elements. The company's quality management system now greatly exceeds the ISO 9001 requirements.
