Credit card use cuts procurement costs and improves efficiency
Article Abstract:
The use of credit cards for purchases under $2500 has reduced costs and enhanced efficiency of government agencies. Purchase cards have been used for purchases worth more than $1.6 billion between the fiscal years of 1990 and 1995. The various credit card agencies are trying to improve their card programs through better service delivery and identification of additional purchases. Purchase orders are more costly as compared to purchase cards and are more difficult to monitor than credit card use.

An unexpected competitive edge: SDI Aerospace implements ISO 9001
Article Abstract:
SDI Aerospace has undergone extensive modernization as a result of seeking and subsequently obtaining ISO 9001 registration. Preparations for registration began in late Mar 1996, with a target date for completion of Jun 1997. A process to address each of the 20 ISO 9001 elements was standardized for use in the company. Generally, SDI worked on three or four elements at a time. Even after gaining registration, the company continues to identify activities that can be strengthened.
