The case for management coaching
Article Abstract:
Project managers frequently are uncomfortable in situations where they are expected to encourage staff development. A number of observations are given that relate to coaching. Effective coaching involves two fundamental principles. One, people cannot be coached if they do not want to be coached, Two, people themselves rather than their coaches are responsible for their own performance and motivation to change. The most important elements in selecting a coach are trust, respect and commitment.
