Form and structure: managers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to design the structure of their departments to best fit the purpose for which they exist
Article Abstract:
Practitioners need to be aware of the importance of the structure of their organisation. Restructuring is often undertaken for many different reasons with varied success. A video evaluating the fundemental types of organisational structure considers the entrepreneurial structure, the bureacratic or role structure, the task or matrix structure and the person organisation culture. A structure must relate to the people that will have to work in it and to the task they will perform. Designing such a structure involves linking functions, hierarchy and the leadership style to the sort of tasks that the workforce will have to undertake.

Strategic networks: the emerging business organization and its impact on production costs
Article Abstract:
A study investigated the development of business unit size in the 20th century in relation to the concept of strategic networking within firms and its implications. It is argued that business unit size has tended to become smaller. Thus optimally sized enterprises are increasingly relying on strategic network servers which coordinate the functions of network members. This network in turn integrally forms part of a larger network that includes related and supporting industries and customers.
