Keeping tabs on criminals
Article Abstract:
Third-generation systems are new electronic monitoring systems being developed to reduce the crime rate by thoroughly monitoring a convicted criminal. The ineptitude of first and second-generation electronic monitoring systems has resulted in the development of third-generation systems. Third-generation systems, in addition to monitoring a criminal, will restrain criminals from indulging in criminal activities.

Watching for Criminals
Article Abstract:
The Intelligent Surveillance and Alarm System (ISAS) from Dynatrend Inc. houses Z80 microprocessors in detectors that check for abnormal activity using infrared sensors. Spatial, temporal, and statistical inferences are made about a person's behavior compared to predetermined normal activity. The system can signal different alarms for different types of threats.
