The semiconductor industry - model for industry/university/government cooperation
Article Abstract:
Semiconductor companies have joined forces to discuss a variety of industry-wide problems such as environmental issues. They formed the Semiconductor Industry Assn to meet these goals. The association, with the help of the federal government, is trying to resolve the adverse competition against Japanese companies. It also established the Semiconductor Research Corporation in 1982 to train and develop highly qualified personnel for employment in the industry. The research company also conducts programs that aims to enhance the industry's R&D activities.

Selling and marketing of R&D
Article Abstract:
The tactical and strategic values of R&D must be marketed and sold effectively to make R&D activities successful. These can be done by recognizing and acknowledging these values and by developing the appropriate attributes of salesmanship. Furthermore, proactive initiatives that meet the needs of internal and external clients enhance the impact and perceived value of R&D.
