Natural Artificial Languages: Low Level Processes
Article Abstract:
Artificial languages are created for precise communications within particular and limited domains. Linguistically mediated languages use natural language terms as an intermediate representation between concepts and symbolic representation in an artificial language. The low level properties such as mnemonic symbols and suggestive names of linguistically mediated artificial languages are investigated. A model is presented of such a language. Three experiments dealing with symbol choices, name choices and associations are discussed in light of their support of the model. The results show that trade-offs are necessary in the design of natural artificial languages.

A Lexical Analysis of Keywords in High Level Programming Languages
Article Abstract:
Lexical studies of programming languages are based on the symbols, or words, used in the languages. Keywords in languages are words which have a predefined meaning, have at least half the characters as letters and are not format items. The keywords of nine high- level programming languages were studied. Comparisons were made on number of keywords, their lengths, relationships to English words and their commonality in different programming languages. Lexical analysis of languages may provide the foundations for other types of analysis.

Level Measurement
Article Abstract:
Steps to be taken to ensure the proper grounding of a radio frequency/capacitance level-measuring system are presented. The importance of the relationship of the sensing element to a radio frequency ground reference to ensure accuracy, stability and repeatability is highlighted.
