Article Abstract:
Recovery of the integrated circuit (IC) market failed to occur in 1986, but application-specific IC and digital signal processor segments grew. Increased perception of the problems involved in testing PCs became evident, as did a revival of interest in analog functions. The emergence of more compact and powerful ICs is forcing the issue of lowering the standard supply voltage from five to three volts.
