Plans under way for the launch of PaQ for education

Article Abstract:

Gordon S. Black Corp.'s Professional Alliance for Quality (PaQ) program aims at improving the quality of US elementary and secondary education by combining the resources of companies and universities. The program will use a total quality measurement system, CSMpact for Schools, to survey public schools and evaluate the quality of their services. The system uses questionaries and statistical models to enable parents, students, teachers, staff and the community to recommend improvements in the education system. The system may be opposed by teachers.

Intelligence everywhere: How technology can enlighten and empower

Article Abstract:

Several emerging technologies have the potential to become useful tools for quality control. Intranets can function as an electronic billboard encouraging increased collaboration among employees. Virtual communities and Internet-based learning tools can provide access to valuable information. Workflow promises to be a useful method for tracking organizational processes. As quality control tools become more reliant to computers and software, quality control concepts should themselves be applied to evaluate these systems.
