Promote people skills
Article Abstract:
Engineering is heavily geared towards people since it is a service business. Firm managers should then have the necessary interpersonal competence or the ability to deal with problems concerning people. Similarly, engineering firms should be keen on the continuous improvement of such interpersonal skills which are vital to the development of the industry. Engineers should effectively communicate and coordinate different tasks while delivering technical expertise with first-class customer service.

Understanding Generation X
Article Abstract:
Members of Generation X are more concerned with flexible working schedules than salaries or specific jobs. If employers expect them to work hard, they should be assured of satisfying experiences and the opportunity for leisure. GenXers prefer to work in a unique, interesting and flexible work environment. For a generation which grew up with microcomputers, they like jobs that are technology-driven. Any employment relationship with members of this generation must be based on trust and respect.

Teamwork: why some people don't like it
Article Abstract:
Many engineers are surprisingly not yet sold on the concept of teamwork. Some of them are convinced that they are talented enough to complete projects on their own. Others just had the misfortune of being previously involved in a badly managed team, or one with the wrong combination of members. Others are disappointed that their team managers do not value their involvement.
